This will be my 2nd year involved with this wonderful film festival. It had its humble beginnings in Newcastle just 3 years ago but this year will be screening in 5…..yes 5……different locations. From their website ….
shOUT it OUT! The shOUT Gay & Lesbian Film Festival is returning for its 3rd year in 2014. A whole month of the best queer cinema from around the world to make you cry, cackle and cringe.
In 2014 shOUT! will run in 5 locations, from its humble beginnings in 2012 and 2013 in the coastal town on Newcastle, NSW the shOUT Film Festival is set to explode! This year locations include CANBERRA, WESTERN SYDNEY (CAMPBELLTOWN), NEWCASTLE, COFFS HARBOUR & GOLD COAST.
The shOUT Film Festival celebrates and raises awareness for the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia on May 17 each year
Not too shabby huh?
You can find all the information about the films, tickets, dates etc etc from the website or their Facebook page, twitter and all the usual places.
Perhaps the most exciting news is that the festival will be showing the brilliant locally made 52 Tuesdays
One Day A Week. Every Week. For A Year.
16-year-old Billie’s reluctant path to independence is accelerated when her mother reveals plans to gender transition and their time together becomes limited to Tuesday afternoons. Filmed over the course of a year, once a week, every week – only on Tuesdays – these unique film making rules bring a rare authenticity to this emotionally charged exploration of desire, responsibility and transformation.
This movie has been garnering a LOT of press coverage here in Australia and internationally….. I saw interviews with the Director just today on Foxtel’s Showbiz ….. so now is the perfect time to jump the queue and see it before everyone else.
I am lucky enough to be seeing 52 Tuesdays within the next few days so keep an eye out for my review.
I am just so proud to be posting about this festival for yet another year. It’s underlying cause is a great one and it’s a way for everyone, not just those within the LGBT community, but everyone to come along and show support. Oh and see some great movies at the same time.
So follow the links, book your tickets and have a fantastic festival!
Love Flick xx
