When Jay (Segel) and Annie (Diaz) first got together, they could not keep their hands off each other. 10 years of marriage, 2 kids, work, life etc etc later and the sizzle has well and truly fizzled. Neither are happy about the current status quo so they concoct a brilliant plan….
They make a sex tape.
With Jay’s promise to delete the video forgotten as he lapses into the sweetest of post coital slumbers, their sex tape is inadvertently uploaded to their i-cloud and shared on all devices linked to theirs. Which is a lot because Jay gives away ipads to family and friends every time they are updated.
Now the race is on to delete the sex tape and so hilarity ensues …….
Except it doesnt…..not really. Now there are some genuinely funny moments and Diaz is at her raunchy best but even she can’t save this movie.
Casting Segel (by the way, is Segal sick? Is he recovering from something? He looks terrible…sorry) opposite Diaz was a mistake. She has much more chemistry with her oh so proper on the surface boss Hank (Lowe). Or would that particular wink, wink scenario be too much? Nope, I dont think so either.
Diaz and Lowe should have been the leads and they should have been allowed to get raunchy without all the ‘and now lets break for a comical interlude’ stuff. Im not talking porn, just raunch……played for laughs but more slap and tickle rather than tickle and tickle.
I wont even begin to discuss the i-cloud jokes. Dude, you get 2 new ipads every few months and you dont know how the cloud works? Bullshit. I dont even use the i-cloud and even I know how it works.
Corddry and Kemper, two wonderful comedic actors, were wasted but when they were onscreen, they stole the show. Loved these two.
This movie had soooooo much potential and it was wasted. It was choppy and uneven, as if two movies had been smooshed into one. As I said earlier, it did have some really funny moments and the opening scenes promised great things but then it kinda lost it’s oomphf.
I dont have a great deal of positive to say about this movie but it is worth the price of a ticket for the opening scenes and the final scenes……..you just have to stay awake for the middle bits ha ha ha
